Choral Scholars
LaGrange College and LaGrange FUMC have a long standing history of partnerships. Choral Scholars is one of the ways LC students can get involved with the church. One of those opportunities are choral scholarships in all voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) for the 2022-2023 academic year. If you were a member of the choir at your home church, or have a love of choral singing in a worship setting, this is a wonderful opportunity that we are delighted to share with you.
Located less than half a mile from the LaGrange College campus, FUMC of LaGrange has a fine choral tradition that embraces both the rich repertoire of the English choral tradition, and contemporary anthems from exciting composers such as John Ness Beck, Pepper Choplin, Carson Cooman, Joseph Martin and Mack Wilberg. The beautiful sanctuary has a renowned pipe organ and concert grand piano that are played weekly by members of the professional Music staff, helping elevate the worship experience of a thriving and diverse congregation. Professional instrumental and orchestral forces, drawn mostly from the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, often join the choir for special occasions and works that call for additional accompaniment.
LaGrange College Choral Scholars serve as members of the Chancel Choir throughout the semester, attending the weekly Wednesday rehearsals held from just 6:30-8:00pm in the dedicated Choir Room, located in the spacious second floor Music Suite. The Choir sings at the 11:00am Sunday morning services, in addition to presenting the Nine Lessons and Carols service in early December for the broader community.
