Advent – It’s More Than A Season, It’s A Lifestyle!
Advent, from the Latin word meaning ‘coming,’ is the first of seven seasons of time in the Christian calendar. Unlike living chronos time, that is, measurable or quantifiable time, it is living kairos time, a season or an opportune time — God’s time.
The watchword for Advent is the cry of the Prophet Isaiah:
“’1Comfort, yes, comfort My people!’ says your God. ‘2Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.’ 3The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God’” (Isaiah 40:1-3).
