Minister in Residence
Dr. Dane joined our team as Minister in Residence on August 1, 2022. As a recently retired Ordained Minister (and former staff minister here), his charge is to initiate a vital Men’s Ministry, teach periodic Adult Bible Study classes, work in staff ministry partnership in the spiritual and caring ministry needs of our congregation, and be on occasional call to serve in worship service capacities.
Before joining our staff, Dane served 11 years as the Senior Minister of Monroe First United Methodist Church, in the now former Athens/Elberton District. He served in Troup County the first eight years of his ministry, including three years here at LaGrange First as Executive Minister. Dane and his wife Marty, along with their two cats, had long considered retiring in the LaGrange area and returning to The First United Methodist Church of LaGrange.
Dr. Dane was born in Rumford, Maine; being raised in my early years on a large family farm and timber business in rural Maine. Dane attended Clayton State University, Georgia State University, the University of West Georgia, Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, and The King’s University in Los Angeles, California. Dane has a BA in Psychology with a Minor in Gerontology from West Georgia, a Masters of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from The King’s University.
We are delighted that he and his wife Marty chose to retire in LaGrange and make LaGrange First Methodist their church home!
